We believe in…

  • The one true and living God, who lives eternally in three co-equal persons as the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
  • The love, grace and sovereignty of God in creating, sustaining, ruling, rescuing and judging the world.
  • The incarnation of God’s eternal Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. That he was born of the virgin Mary, is truly divine and truly human, yet is without sin.
  • The atoning sacrifice of Jesus on the cross; that he died in our place, paying the price for sin, defeating evil and reconciling us with God.
  • The bodily resurrection of Jesus, his ascension to the Father, and his reign and mediation as the only Saviour and Lord of the world.
  • The personal and visible return of the Lord Jesus to the earth in order to fulfil the purposes of God, judge the living and the dead, and establish a new heaven and a new earth.
  • The person and work of God the Holy Spirit, who leads us to repentance, unites us with Christ through new birth, empowers our discipleship and enables our witness.
  • The divine inspiration of the Bible; that it is fully trustworthy and the supreme authority both for Christian belief and conduct.
  • The dignity and value of all people, made male and female in God’s image, but corrupted by sin and therefore alienated from God. We are incapable of becoming right with God through our own efforts, and only by the grace of God can we know forgiveness, wholeness, right standing with God and eternal life by putting our faith only and completely in Jesus Christ.
  • The Church, the body of Christ, both local and universal, made up of all who have repented and put their faith and trust in Jesus Christ, and in the priesthood of all believers – given life by the Spirit and empowered by him to worship God and proclaim the gospel.

Our church is part of a worldwide family of Baptist churches, and a member of the Baptist Union of Great Britain.
